Wade attributes his activity in sports at a young age and throughout his life, as an ingredient in his life successes. If he wasn’t involved in sports, he would have had plenty of opportunities to be distracted and fall through the cracks. With his lived experience and passion for sports, he seeks to create positive impacts for youth in sports.
Wade has a Bachelor of Sociology Degree and is completing his Masters in Social Work. Wade is also an entrepreneur and owner of The Moonball. The Moonball is a custom basketball containing hyper reflective crystals under its surface, similar to a highway or street sign. When you shine light on it, whether its your phone flash or other light source, it looks very similar to the full moon. Allowing for new styles of play in basketball and for some fun social media content. Expanding products to also include soccer and footballs and an apparel line.
Wade supports creating opportunities in sports for BIPOC youth and young adults. The fundamentals learned in sports, provide youth with a foundation of hard work and dedication which can be transferred into life-skills. Sports is a powerful tool that breaks down barriers and helps youth feel good about themselves, contributing to their mental and physical well-being.
